In the Sino-Japanese War, Tshui-ing and her father escape Japanese occupation, meeting Ling-hun en route. After years in exile, Tshui-ing reunites with Ling-hun in Shanghai but marries his pro-Japanese uncle. A poignant conflict ensues, entwining love and patriotism, ultimately revealing the identity of "Special Agent 001" who leads the resistance.
